The much-anticipated Mockingbird Pedestrian Bridge is officially open, giving easy bike and pedestrian access to Mockingbird Station! The bridge connects the Katy Trail to Ridgewood and White Rock Trails, making Mockingbird Station the perfect pit stop during a day of outdoor fun.
The bridge is part of a larger initiative to make Dallas more bike- and pedestrian-friendly, connecting communities along the way. As part of the bridge’s official dedication earlier this month, local poet Fatima-Ayan Malika Hirsi recited her original poem inspired by the way the bridge will help connect our community:
Here in this place named for a bird who imitates others is a magick that cannot be duplicated.
A bridge connects communities and makes a city a spiderweb—See how its people come together right now
Like a song from the past written to build a better future.
Let no one fear taking their first step on this new path.
