Chef and owner Hisashi “Teddy” Uehara opened the first AGU A Ramen Bistro in 2013 at the Saint Louis Alumni Association in Honolulu, HI to immediate praise for his dedication and passion for crafting timeless, yet innovative recipes with the best ingredients available.
Today, AGU operates 10 restaurants in Hawaii and Texas with immediate plans for further expansion. “Agu,” which means “fellowship” or “best friends” in Miyakoan, a dialect of Okinawa, Japan, is representative of the attitude Uehara exudes with each of his customers. AGU strives to deliver the best Japanese food through its labor-intensive ramen broths, artisan noodles, and signature bistro dishes like AGUcini and Cheek-a-boo Croquettes, and pays homage to their storied origins while delivering a creative and delicious experience. AGU is a four-time HONOLULU Magazine Hale Aina Award-winning restaurant in the Best Japanese Noodle category and has been featured nationally on websites such
as ZAGAT, Eater, and Thrillist.
